Houston Community College and industry leaders, elected officials and emerging business executives from Stafford are joining forces to solve the workforce needs in the area.
During the Workforce Summit, held Thursday at the Stafford Campus, Dr. Mary Spangler, HCC Chancellor; Dr. Fena Garza, HCC Southwest President, and the Honorable Leonard Scarcella, Mayor of Stafford, talked about what Stafford requires in order to grow economically and what HCC is doing to help satisfy those requirements.
During the summit, HCC officials talked about the many programs and training programs that HCC is providing in order to meet the workforce needs in Stafford, and what HCC is doing to serve the business community in the near future.
The latest figures show 80 percent of today’s new jobs require education or training beyond high school and that those jobs represent the fastest-growing and highest-paying segments of the new economy.
HCC Trustee Neeta Sane, District VII hosted the event.
